What is a cherry?

A cherry is not just a juicy fruit, but also a symbol of spring and prosperity. It is a small tree or shrub from the rose family, reaching heights of 5 to 10 meters, with characteristic branches and dense foliage. Cherry leaves are oval-shaped, with small serrations along the edges, and in spring they are covered with white or pink flowers, creating magnificent floral thickets. The fruit of the cherry usually has a round or heart-shaped form and can vary from bright red to nearly black, depending on the variety.

Cherry trees prefer sunny and open areas, although they can also grow in partial shade. They ripen actively during the warm months, creating an atmosphere of abundance and joy in the garden. The cherry harvest season begins in July, when the fruits reach their ripeness, filled with sweet and tart flavor, and are ready for consumption. Cherries are excellent for both fresh consumption and processing. They can be made into a variety of preserves, jams, juices, and liqueurs.

Additionally, cherry trees are used in landscape design. Their flowering attracts bees and other pollinators, bringing life to the garden's ecosystem. The vibrant fruit and lush greenery create a contrast with other plants in the environment, making cherries a valuable element not only for prosperity but also for visual appeal.

Cherries are also a source of vitamins and antioxidants, making them popular among people who care about their health. Their culinary uses, as well as their ties to Ukrainian and Russian culture through folk traditions and rituals, give cherries particular significance in both agronomy and everyday life.
