Historical model is a systematized and simplified representation of historical processes, events, or eras, created for understanding, analyzing, and interpreting the past. Such models serve as tools that allow highlighting key elements and interrelations in the development of society, economy, culture, politics, and other spheres of human activity during different historical periods.

Within a historical model, various aspects can be described: the chronological sequence of events, interactions among social groups, economic structures, cultural traditions, ideological currents, as well as external influences and natural-geographical conditions affecting the course of historical development. These models often include indicators of cause-and-effect relationships, dynamics of changes, and stable patterns, which help deepen the understanding of the causes and consequences of specific historical phenomena.

Historical models vary in scale and focus—from local reconstructions of events within a single community or state to global concepts describing the development of civilizations or world history as a whole. They may contain classifications and typologies of eras, diagrams of social structures, descriptions of economic cycles and political processes, making them important tools for researchers, educators, students, and anyone striving to gain a systematic understanding of human history.

The scope of application for historical models is wide-ranging: from academic research and educational materials to museum exhibitions and public history. They facilitate coherent presentation of complex material, providing a structured and sequential approach to studying history, thereby contributing to the formation of objective perspectives and critical thinking.
