Rodents are a large order of mammals, comprising more than two thousand species that inhabit almost every corner of the Earth, from dense forests and vast steppes to desert and mountainous regions.

Rodents possess a distinctive feature — powerful and continuously growing incisors in both their upper and lower jaws, adapted for steady and effective gnawing of hard food such as wood, seeds, bark, and herbaceous plants. These teeth enable them to engage in diverse activities — from digging tunnels and burrows in the soil to acquiring food and building nests.

The collection of rodent photos includes images of representatives from some of the most well-known and widespread families: from small mouse-like rodents and voles to larger squirrels, beavers, and hamsters. The photographs may show rodents in their natural habitats — amid grass shoots, on tree branches, during daytime or nighttime, as well as in feeding, moving through burrows, or interacting with each other.

Rodents inhabit a variety of environments: they live in forests, meadows, swamps, agricultural lands, city parks, and even rural yards. These animals play an important role in ecosystems by participating in seed dispersal, controlling insect populations, and providing food for many predators.

The rodent photos also capture seasonal changes in their behavior and appearance: winter fur changes in some species noticeably alter their coloration and fur density, while in summer the animals tend to be more active and collect food supplies.

Visual materials about rodents help to better understand the biological characteristics of these mammals, their habits, adaptive abilities, and species diversity, opening the way to appreciating their importance in nature and the need to protect their habitats.
