Sakura, or Japanese cherry, is one of the most iconic trees of East Asia, known for its stunning bloom. These trees, belonging to the genus Prunus, can reach heights of 5 to 12 meters, with a compact, spreading crown that provides magnificent shade.

Sakura primarily grows in temperate climates, preferring sunny and wind-protected areas. The trees adapt well to various soil types, although they develop best in well-drained fertile soils. The blooming period of sakura usually occurs in spring, depending on climate conditions, and this is when the trees are covered with delicate pink or white flowers.

Sakura is particularly popular in Japan, where this flowering tree symbolizes the beauty of fleeting moments, and the blooming time, known as hanami, becomes a celebration when people gather under the blooming trees to enjoy nature together. Sakura is also found in other countries such as China, Korea, and even some regions of Europe and North America, where entire avenues and parks dedicated to this beautiful tree are created.

In addition to its aesthetic qualities, sakura plays an essential role in the ecosystem, attracting bees and other pollinators, thereby contributing to biodiversity. After blooming, cherries produce bright fruits that provide food for many species of birds and animals.

Our collection of sakura images offers you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of these trees in various settings – from the morning sunlight streaming through blooming branches to the gentle breeze carrying petals into the air.
