Wall art refers to the visual decoration of various wall surfaces in public and private spaces. This category includes images applied to exterior or interior walls of buildings, structures, as well as fences and other vertical constructions. Wall art can be found in a wide range of locations—from city streets and residential neighborhoods to office spaces and cultural centers.

Wall art can feature diverse subjects and compositions, including depictions of figures, landscapes, architectural elements, scenes from life, or abstract forms. The surfaces on which such art is executed vary in material and texture—these can be brick, concrete, wooden walls, plaster, metal panels, and other bases. Depending on the location, wall art interacts with the surrounding urban or natural landscape, creating a unique visual accent.

Wall art is often located in places with diverse surrounding contexts: on busy streets, in squares and parks, inside galleries or private interiors. In such spaces, it may coexist with natural elements such as trees, shrubs, flower beds, as well as architectural details like windows, doors, balconies, and facade decorations. Exterior walls serving as the base for these works are exposed to natural factors: seasonal changes, weather conditions, lighting—all of which contribute to changing the perception and interaction with the image on the wall.

Wall art can range from large monumental compositions on building facades to small images on interior walls and partitions. This form of decoration helps functionally transform space, visually divide zones, and draw attention to certain objects or elements of the urban environment. Due to its placement on walls, it integrates into architectural and social surroundings, becoming part of the city’s identity or interior decor.
